A Pug Mommies Thoughts - Dec 1, 2009 - Missing Didee
Today has been a difficult day for me. Today is Aphrodite's birthday, she would have been 16, it's the 1st birthday since she died. It's so hard I have cried several times today. I have tried to make it a positive day by setting up the Light a Candle event, lighting a candle for real here on her resting place and I adopted a Webkins Pug today and named it Aphrodite. Inspite of doing all that I am still so sad and missing her. I was going to change her diary and memorial announcement in the newsletter to her autobiography today but I couldn't do it. I really want to start her writings but it's too much to handle today. My greatest fear is that she will be forgotten and she deserves so much more than that.

A New Edition of the Pugaboo Newsletter is Ready
Hello everyone as you may have noticed I am trying to get the hang of posting and have been playing with different ways of listing. Since I overwrite the same files to the online newsletter each week with the updated files I am thinking if I want to keep certain articles "active" out here I'll have to post them separately under their column titles with publish dates. Please follow the link to the brand new November 9, 2009 edition of the Pugaboo Newsletter here. I'll copy and post the few articles I want kept active as the week goes by into their separate posts.
Thank you so much for bearing with me as I get this all figured out.

Update On Calliope 11/02/09
Calliope Has Arrived In The World!
Update: I found out late last week that Callie will be able to come with me on December 18th! I'm so excited she really will be a Christmas baby. I have only heard from a few of you concerning my question about getting her fixed BEFORE she comes home with me. PLEASE if you have any information as to why I should or should not let the breeder fix her at 8 weeks please email me. Thanks!
I was naughty again I bought her another toy. I found this cute little baby Eeyore stuffy that just screamed Callie to me so I got it for her and set it aside with the rest of her gifts. I also bought a bunch of little costumes that were on sale for $2 each! I figure I can put them on her and take pictures before she out grows them so I have some new images to use towards next years Halloween cards. I got a bat, a ghost, a pumpkin and a red devil, she ought to look adorable in them. I know I know completely useless since she'll be too big for them by next year but I can put them on her now photograph her in them and use the pictures at any point in the future I want. It's not like I can make HER smaller later on.
Now that I know her arrival date here I went and changed my doctor appoints that were schedule the week after she arrived. I didn't want to get her then have to leave her all day while I did the doctor thing. I think its important that she not be left alone the first few weeks after all she'll be in a new place all by herself for the first time ever and is likely to be scared and nervous. I also don't want to leave her alone with Persie or Dora until I know for sure I'm not going to have any trouble integrating her into the pack. By changing my appointments it means all of us will be here with her for the first couple of weeks and she gets settled.
Last weeks update in case you missed it....
As you all know Miss Calliope arrived on October 18th. The breeder surprised me with the announcement and I am sooooo happy; Callie is finally here! Lynda, the breeder, sent video and photographs! I have posted them for you below and within the next few weeks I'll set up a page for Callie and move the older ones there and start adding new ones to the regular Pug-folio pages.
Anyhow Callie is here and is healthy and active. I haven't gotten to meet her yet but have scheduled to drive up and see her on November 11th. When I go up I'll actually be making the final decision on which of the 3 girls I want. My husband made me promise not to make a final decision on which girl I want until I meet them all in Pug-son. BUT this being said if you watch the video with their Mommy I bet you can guess which one caught my eye! So far everyone I have shown it to, and yes even my husband, has said the same thing ...They all go I bet you want the one that..... and I say yep THAT'S Callie...hee hee hee just watch the video and I think you know which one got my attention. Such determination to go her own way and do things HER way not like everyone else. Sound familiar? Gee what other Pug had those tendencies. LOL I in fact eventually asked Lynda which one that was and she said oh that's the first girl born and when she arrived she said, "welcome to the world Callie" so even Lynda thinks that is Callie. She isn't the biggest one nor the smallest but she is lighter and fluffier than her 2 sisters. Once again sound familiar? Anyhow I am sticking to my promise and am hoping when I visit that I'll know immediately which one is Callie even if it's not this particular one, I just hope she gives me some kind of a sign... I went from no girls to having to pick from THREE. I have talked to Didee and told her she better let me know which one she trained and sent along so the I get the right one.
On another important note please look under the Pug Medical Journals for a super critical question I am hoping you all can help with!

A Pug Mommies Thoughts Nov 2 2009
Did you all hear an unusual scream out of no where last Thursday oh around noon eastern time? Well if you did it was me, LOL.
My daughter went out to her car to leave and I followed her quickly out the door to catch the mailman with some packages. When I cam back in there in my entry was a small snake slithering around. It was IN my house! Now you all must know by now I am TERRIFIED of snakes! Yet there I stood with one INIDE my house and me alone with the girls for the rest of the day! Alone and as usual having to rescue the Pugs and myself...well MYSELF. Ha Ha Ha
I don't know where Persie was but Dora seemed to have kept it corralled in the entry since she was hopping back and forth preventing it from slithering more than a foot in either direction. When I came in she looked up at me and seemed to say look Mom a friend! It wants to play! I was NO DORA no play with the snake, thank you for keeping it in the entry but please baby back off and let Mommy take care of it. Dora backed up a few steps to the dining room door but wouldn't leave this fascinating new friend that had come visiting.
I myself hopped over the snake but was too terrified to take my eyes off of it to go get a broom since it might slither off somewhere in the house only to pounce on me later. Do snakes pounce? Leap? Umm strike! I think they strike anyway. All it takes for them to scare the living daylights out of me is to BE THERE no additional activity required LOL. So the only thing other than my hands and feet available in the entry to help me encourage it to go back out the door it came in was a weighted walking stick my husband uses for exercise walking. I grab it and try to encourage the snake to go OUT but the dumb thing kept getting almost out then curling around and coming back in. Dora was like look Mom it likes it here it wants to stay ...can I keep it? I not only had to keep my eye on the snake I had to keep my eye on Dora for fear she might dash out the front door since I had it wide open trying to give the snake the biggest opening I could to leave through.
After much squealing and shoving at it with the walking stick I finally got it to leave... WHEW! I closed the door told Dora she was a very brave girl for staying and helping Mommy then went and had a nervous breakdown on the sofa. Ha ha ha I spent the rest of the week too terrified to go out my own front door so went through the garage instead. When I do use the door I now tap the bottom of it with my foot BEFORE I open it in hopes that if anything is out there it will feel the vibrations and leave! The last one must have been sleeping up against the metal footplate warming itself in the sun and then simply slipped in under the door as it swung open.... how do you type a shudder? eeehwwwwww. I also spent the whole week jumping at any little unknown thing in the shadows around the house after all if 1 could get it maybe it brought friends and they went and hid before I came back! I seriously considered doing tail-ectomies on all of the girls little crocheted Mousie stuffies...Sorry Helen! since those long tails in the shadow look like snakes! Instead I picked them all up and told the girls the mousies had a mouse convention to go to for the week but not to worry they would be back in a week (or so).
That was my exciting week... how did yours go?
